Devonport Oval

The Devonport Oval is arguably the most picturesque ground in Australia. It is positioned next to a beach in Devonport and has three cycling and footy training light towers.

It has two stands, the Frank Matthews Stand is the main long one, a pavilion and a grass hill. The ground is tiered on on one side.

After the Devonport City Council's descision to upgrade the unused Devonport Oval in 1937, a VFL practice match was played there between Collingwood and Geelong, and the redevelopment was a winner for the fans, with over 10,000 turning up.

In 1959, Devonport's population was just lower than 14,000, in that same year a State of Origin match between Tasmania and Victoria was played there and the attendance was 13,500!

The Devonport Oval has always had a great surface, and the cricket pitch is one of the fastest in the country.
